Description

Neil Young and Reprise Record sare pleased to announce the 50th Anniversary Edition of Young’s classic record After the Gold Rush, which will arrive on CD on December 11. The deluxe vinyl box set will follow on March 19. Originally released September 19, 1970,After the Gold Rushis cemented in the annals of music history—the album has often been rightly recognized as one of the finest ever made. The collection combined Young’s poetic lyricism and wistful melodies, driven by both dreamy folk arrangements and ferocious rock ‘n’ roll, and in the decades since has been certified double platinum in both the U.S. and the U.K.The 50th Anniversary Edition vinyl boxset features a variant of the artwork, originally created by Neil’s long-time art directorGary Burden, made in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning artistJenice Heo. The set also includes a 7” single in a picture sleeve with two versions of album outtake “Wonderin’.” Side A, originally included in The Archives Vol. 1: 1963-1972, was recorded in Topanga, California, in March 1970, and Side B is a previously unreleased version recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood in August 1969. A litho print of the album’s front cover is exclusively included in this vinyl box set. The CD format of the 50th Anniversary Edition includes the new artwork and both versions of“Wonderin’.”

Wonderin'' why the vinyl edition, which adds zero previously unreleased material, is currently priced at about $100?! Sure, there''s a 7 inch, with two versions of "Wonderin''" --- So What. For a Franklin we should get a complete Lionel Train Set thrown in as a bonus.

Glad it was "on sale" because no way I was going to pay $100 for this.

Was it worth $100? No way, but when Amazon had it for $47 I bought it, still overprice even then but it''s a nice upgrade from my original pressing.

Celebrating 50 years since the release of this seminal album not only for Neil but for music fans. There''s no point in describing how good this still sounds it is a remarkable record. But the purpose of this release is hard to fathom with only two bonus tracks, ''Wonderin'' is a new song plus an outtake version. No extra notes just the original lyric sheet from the original release. Fans have just shelled out £200 + for Archives 2 which once again duplicated many earlier releases, so this is an odd release but essential.

Neil Young | After the Gold Rush | 11.12.20 | Erst-VÖ: 31.08.70 | Kein AutoRip Und das nächste Jubiläum von Neil Young. Schwachsinn pur. Den Song ONLY LOVE CAN BREAK YOUR HEART schrieb Neil Young für Graham Nash, seinem ehemaligen Bandkollegen bei dem kurzzeitigen Projekt CSNY für Crosby, Still, Nash and Young. ONLY LOVE CAN BREAK YOUR HEART. Jahrhundert an".

Neil Young was never really on my radar musically as he was a bit before my time, so to speak. However, whilstin lockdown Tony Wright and Milly Evans (Terrorvision) did some online gigs from Tony''s coffee and printshop in Otley, called Bloomfield Square. On one night they did a cover of the song After The Gold Rush and it literally blew me away. I endeavoured to find a studio album and forunately came across one being sold by Sunrise Infinity so decided to purchase it at a reasonsble price. Though the delivery date given was three weeks, it arrived around 3 or 4 days later. The CD was in great condition and has been in the cars player ever since.

It''s the 2009 master from the original archives re-issue series. They''ve done a nice job with the sleeve but the vinyl is a let down. Okay, it''s a reasonable pressing but at this price you''d expect 180gm vinyl but, despite the manufacturer''s advertising blurb it isn''t. Stick to the standard pressing.
